Legalisation

You may be advised that your document needs to be 'legalised' or 'apostilled'.

This means that the Notary Public's signature needs to be verified by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office 'the FCO' and/or the Embassy or Consulate of the country in which the document is to be used. The certificate the FCO attach to the document is known as an apostille.

The need for Legalisation / Apostille depends on the country involved and I can advise you on this.

You can find out further information on apostille and the process by visiting the FCO website. You can arrange the apostille yourself or I can arrange this for you.  At the time of writing, the FCO takes approximately 3 weeks to deal with personal applications.

I therefore use my business service (for an apostille only - the process takes 2-3 business days) and courier will attend to the legalisation.  Consular legalisation  will attract an additional fee.  I can also arrange for the documents so be sent to the destined country. A full breakdown of costs can be provided once what is needed has been ascertained.
